Google will offer several ways to watch today's total lunar eclipse live

Not one to let the earth's rotation get in the way of a good lunar eclipse, Google will offer several ways to watch today's total lunar eclipse live over the Internet. Google Will Live Feed Lunar Eclipse
The earth will shield the sun's rays from the moon starting at 11:20 a.m. Pacific time on Wednesday. The total lunar eclipse will be visible from Australia, Asia, Africa, Europe and South America, meaning that folks in North America won't get to see the eclipse first-hand -- including Google. The search giant is partnering with Slooh Space Camera to help everyone catch a glimpse.
The simplest way to watch the eclipse is to visit YouTube's Google channel, which will host a live feed later today. For a more elaborate set-up, check out Slooh's mission interface powered by Google Apps. It allows you to see images of the eclipse from multiple angles and listen to audio narrations, and Slooh members will be able to take high-resolution screenshots. Android phone owners can download Slooh's Space Camera app, which offers a similar experience to the desktop mission interface.
Google has used the moon to showcase the company's service before. In 2009, Google added a complete map of the moon to Google Earth, and last year Google Earth hosted live camera images from Slooh during another total lunar eclipse. This is the first time an Android app has been available for the occasion, and it will also be the first eclipse live feed on YouTube.
But Google's fascination with space isn't always tied to a specific product. In 2007, the company pledged $30 million to anyone who could land a private spacecraft on the moon. The prize remains unclaimed.
I am beginning to think that Google should put its doodlers in charge of the whole company.
It seems as if they have an instinct for inspiring real, normal people that has sometimes seemed lacking in some of the titular higher-ups.
So today, as we await the full effects of a lunar eclipse that will provide us with some welcome pause for thought, Google has created a doodle on its home page that shows the progress of the moon as it becomes darkened because the earth is blocking the path of the sun's rays.
Just as with the marvelous Les Paul effort last week, this doodle not only shows you the moon's movement, but allows you to move a dial as far backwards and forwards as you like in order to observe whichever minute detail takes your fancy.

Could HP TouchPad be very competitive on the market

Hewlett-Packard on Friday said that it would start selling its highly-anticipated TouchPad media tablet starting July 1, 2011. Depending on the version, the TouchPad with Wi-Fi will cost $499 or $599. HP hopes that the TouchPad will be very competitive on the market because of its feature-set and flexibility.
It is joining a batch of other tablets, including the iPad2, Motorola Xoom, more Galaxy Tabs and the BlackBerry Playbook.

Since there's still a few days before HP will be taking orders, let's take a look under the hood.

Platform

HP started dabbling in smartphones with the IPAQ Voice Messenger in 2007 before getting serious and buying Palm in 2010. Palm had built a following around the early Palm Pilot organizer and the Treo line of smartphones.

This deal gave HP control of Palm's slick operating system known as webOS, which was being used on the Palm Pre smartphones.

The webOS platform is completely different from Android and the iOS devices.

If you ask any Palm Pre fans, they would say it's all about synergy, as the webOS goes about gathering all your information, such as contacts, calendar items and social networks, and putting it in one place.

Armed with Palm's technology, I knew it would just be a matter of time before an HP tablet was born and shazam!, we now have the TouchPad.

HP simply says "there is nothing like it" when touting the webOS platform, adding that it'll take multitasking to another level.

If the TouchPad can put all my calendars in one place, like HP claims, that could be a winner, as I have calendars scattered all the over the Web in Google, Yahoo!, Apple's MobileMe and of course, Microsoft Exchange. That's just too many, but I don't know what to do about it.

According to HP, you can expect a lot of synergy between the TouchPad and two HP smartphones - the Veer and the Pre 3 - for sharing Web addresses with the TouchPad.

Google will enable IPv6 for its main websites including google.com

Web giants including Facebook and Google are braced for a major test tomorrow of new technology designed to allow the internet to continue growing after current systems reach their capacity.
But the internet is not ready. It’s hoped the 24-hour World IPv6 Day test will help concentrate minds at network operators, as a small percentage of users may be unable to reach their favourite websites.
The huge experiment is being run because the Internet Protocol itself – the fundamental set of rules that allows data to be transmitted the internet – is due to be updated from IPv4 to IPv6.
The change is required because IPv4 offers a limited and rapidly dwindling supply of IP addresses, the identifying numbers which are allocated to each computer or network connected to the internet. There are only 4.3 billion IPv4 addresses, compared to 340 trillion trillion trillion IPv6 addresses.
“It's as if the internet was originally designed with a limited number of telephone numbers, and we're soon going to run out,” Vint Cerf, a member of the team that built the forerunner of the internet, explained in January.
The new system should have more than enough capacity to serve existing demand in booming economies like China, and to foster future internet technologies worldwide..

The problem is that IPv4 and IPv6 communications are not compatible with each other: a home PC connected via IPv4 cannot access an IPv6 wevbsite, for example. So network operators need to make technical preparations to ensure users can access websites and other services via either. Some have not, however.
“In all likelihood, you won’t even notice the test,” Google assured users.
“The vast majority (99.95 per cent) of people will be able to access services without interruption: either they’ll connect over IPv6, or their systems will successfully fall back to IPv4."
But it warned there may be problems for a few tomorrow.
“However, as with any next-generation technology, there may be teething pains. We estimate that .05 per cent of systems may fail to fall back to IPv4, so some people may find Google, Facebook, Yahoo, Bing and other participating websites slow or unresponsive on World IPv6 Day.”
Google will enable IPv6 for its main websites including google.com and youtube.com, so that they are accessible via both IPv6 and IPv4, and has provided a page for users to test whether they are likely to experience problems.

Sony continues to inch toward a full two weeks of lost service for PlayStation Network

As Sony continues to inch toward a full two weeks of lost service for PlayStation Network and Qrirocity customers, there is more and more pressure on the company to address the growing numbers of questions being lobbed in its direction. The first steps were taken earlier this week toward addressing the demands of the 77 million users who have had their personal data stolen and been left without service since last Wednesday, in the form of a Sony-penned Q&A. Today brings part two of that Q&A, presumably with more to come given Dell xps m1330 battery,Dell inspiron 1300 battery that today’s answers serve to raise additional questions.
The key points discussed in Patrick Seybold’s PlayStation Blog post relate to how each user’s game & community data has been affected by the outage (other than being currently inaccessible, it hasn’t) and what the company’s plans are moving forward, after service is restored. This second point is obviously much more rooted in the realm of the theoretical at this point, as there’s no restored service to speak of yet, and the length of time between now and when that happens will probably play a role in any decisions.
PlayStation Network is home to a number of massively multiplayer online role-playing games, such as the recently released DC Universe Online. Since these types of games involve subscriptions that aren’t associated with or paid to PlayStation Network, Seybold defers to a statement from Sony Online Entertainment:
“We apologize for any inconvenience players may have experienced as a result of the recent service interruption. As a global leader in online gaming, SOE is committed to delivering stable and entertaining games for players of all ages. To thank players for their patience, we will be hosting special events across our game portfolio. We are also working Hp pavilion dv6000 battery,Hp dv8000 batteries on a ‘make good’ plan for players of the PS3 versions of DC Universe Online and Free Realms. Details will be available soon on the individual game websites and forums.”
As for the PlayStation Network, the basic service allowing gamers to connect and play together online is completely free, in contrast to Microsoft‘s subscription-based Xbox Live. PS3 owners can subscribe to the PS Plus program for added benefits, and those people are simply out of luck right now. There’s also an argument that the PS3′s “free online play” offering is a selling point that motivates consumers to choose the console over the Xbox 360. Then there’s Qrirocity, which is entirely subscription-based.

Lithium Batteries Future Will be Controled by ALPA

Lithium batteries being shipped by air have long been a concern for the National Transportation Safety Board and federal transportation authorities, and ALPA has supported fully regulating them -- including increased marking, labeling, and packaging requirements; conducting employee training; and notifying the pilot-in-command that these shipments are aboard the aircraft -- since 2004.
"While paint and dry ice shipments aboard aircraft are currently regulated as dangerous goods, shipments of lithium batteries are not, despite the aircraft incidents and fires linked to the unsafe shipment of these batteries and their ability to self-ignite when improperly packaged or mishandled," Moak said in his statement to the U.S. House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee's Subcommittee on Railroads, Pipelines, and Hazardous Materials.
The statement says presario cq40 battery can spontaneously catch fire, emitting sparks, flames, and large amounts of smoke. If packaged or handled inappropriately, the batteries can self-ignite and, once ignited, the fire can quickly spread from battery to battery and be extremely difficult to extinguish.
"While the International Civil Aviation Organization requirements serve as a regulatory foundation, they don't go far enough in ensuring the safe transport of lithium batteries as cargo," it says. "The gaps that result seriously threaten the safety of airline passengers, crews, cargo, and even individuals on the ground who could be harmed in an incident." ALPA supports U.S. regulations that go beyond the ICAO requirements by:
  • Mandating notification of the pilot-in-command that lithium batteries(Hp pavilion dv4 batteries) are being transported. Knowing that hazardous materials are aboard the aircraft can affect pilots' decisions, including which airport to choose in an emergency diversion and what information to provide so that first responders are prepared with equipment necessary to fight a fire on board.
  • Limiting the total quantity of lithium batteries permitted to be shipped aboard a single aircraft. While the number of batteries per shipping package is limited, there is no limit to the number of packages that may be shipped aboard a single aircraft.
  • Restricting lithium battery shipments to specific cargo compartments. Lithium ion batteries are proven to respond favorably to the Halon system in a Class C cargo compartment. The batteries need to be fully regulated to ensure they are loaded only in cargo compartments that are equipped with the most effective fire suppression systems.Hp pavilion dv8000 battery
  • Banning shipment of lithium-metal batteries on all aircraft. While the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration banned shipments of lithium-metal batteries(Hp pavilion dv9000 battery) on passenger aircraft in 2004, they are still allowed on cargo aircraft.
  • Requiring dangerous-goods labels. A dangerous-goods label requirement would increase awareness on the part of the ground personnel who load and unload aircraft and potentially reduce the likelihood that damaged shipments would be loaded on aircraft.
  • Mandating training for lithium battery shippers and handlers. Safety would be enhanced by raising awareness among shippers and providing training on the safe handling of lithium batteries. With regulatory training requirements, lithium battery shippers, handlers, and facilities would be subject to oversight and inspection to ensure that training and packaging provisions are met.
Did you know that detaching your main laptop battery from your laptop would increase your laptop's battery life up to 75%? Our experience and testing have shown that even when you are plugged in with your laptop ac adapter and your battery is fully charged, the laptop will still use the laptop battery resources in small increments. This will put unnecessary charge cycles to your battery. Since typical li-ion laptop batteries have 375 charge cycles, having a fully charged Hp presario cq60 battery,Hp mini 1000 battery inserted will put unnecessary charge cycles. The downside to removing your laptop battery maybe a loss of power when the ac adapter is accidentally unplugged or when there is a power outage.

Best 5 Pink laptops for Apple,Dell,HP,Asus&Sony

Well The Uni year is over and so is the school term, so in anticipation of the new academic year coming this September we’re looking at what’s out there for our younger customers. Let’s remember that not all of us are gamers or professionals and are just leisurely laptop users with a special affinity for different colours.
5. Dell Mini 10 Inspiron
The Pink Mini 10 netbook launched by Dell is a fairly standard machine. It has an Atom processor that runs Windows 7 and features a meagre GB DDR 2 RAM. It does have a good amount of Hard Drive space with up to 250 GB and an integrated graphics card.
More importantly though is it’s appearance. It’s really nice, really small and kinda cute. It has a very glossy 10.1 inch LCD display and fits nicely in any bag. Also, with built in Wi-Fi, it’s perfect to carry around.
4. Sony VAIO VPC-EA1S1E and NW20 Series
pinkvaio Top 5 Pink laptops Apple, Asus, Dell, HP & Sony laptops at laptopshop.co.uk
Sony are another manufacturer who include a pink option throughout the laptop and netbook range. Sony VAIO laptops are renowned for offering high performance, quality and reliability; and, in terms of price, offer great value in comparison to some other computer brands.
Sony are a manufacturer that seem to always include a pink alternative to their netbook range. Their Sony VAIO laptops are always of a high spec, quality and are always reliable.
The new 14 inch VPC-EA1S1E Sony laptop notebook from Sony with a massive 4GB of RAM and 500GB Disc Drive looks great and out performs most laptops in its class. The Sony has an Intel Core 2.13GHz processor and dedicated ATI graphics card (512Mb)- coupled with an LED 16:9 display this makes it ideal for watching movies as well as being an ideal everyday laptop for home or work.
There’s also the Sony VAIO NW20 Series Laptop. This is Windows 7 enabled and features a smooth patterned casing with smooth edges which has been designed to be easily carried around.
It also has a T6600 processor, 320 GB HDD and 4GB of RAM!
Easily the most powerful windows laptop in this list.
3. HP Mini 110-1150SA Pink Netbook
pinkhp Top 5 Pink laptops Apple, Asus, Dell, HP & Sony laptops at laptopshop.co.uk
This 10.1 inch netbook is part of a long line of netbooks to pack an Intel Atom processor, but unlike most netbooks this comes with Windows 7 as it’s default operating system. Other specs are a 160GB hard-drive, 1GB of ram and an almost full size keyboard. The standard web-cam, microphone and webcam are also built in.
as a netbook, it’s fairly standard, as A pink laptop, it’s pretty damn cool. It’s light and once again very portable, slips into a school bag or hand bag very nicely.
2. Asus Eee PC Disney 9 inch Children’s Netbook
pinkasus Top 5 Pink laptops Apple, Asus, Dell, HP & Sony laptops at laptopshop.co.uk
This is a shameless Disney branded laptop that all children will love. It’s based upon the ASUS Eee PC netbook and is packed to the rafters with entertaining and educational software.
Designed specifically for children, it features lots of innovative features including an extra tough rugged design, plus shock proof hard-drive and parental control.
Asus have played it safe by opting to go with Windows XP as the OS. I assume they don’t trust Vista and don’t want to risk it with the uncharted windows 7.
The price is around £270, which isn’t too bad for a netbook these days. Your kids will absolutely love this.
It’s second because it’s perfect for the market, I can’t think of any child that wouldn’t love this. Boy or Girl. It’s clever, it’s cute, it’s educational, it’s fun, it’s a good price and it’s number 2.
1. Apple MacBook, MackBook Pro and iPad
Ok, this is a bit of a cheat as Apple haven’t actually officially released these products, however there is a company called ‘colorware’ that will make these modifications for you.
Colorware can and will customise almost most laptops or electrical products you can think of. The beauty of their service is that you can go online and play around with their system which will preview what your laptop(Apple a1185 battery) will look like. Simply send in your existing MacBook and they’ll customise it to your perfect shade of pink.
Alternatively you can purchase the laptop fully customised directly from them. Either way it’s pretty damn cool.
So that’s our winner, mainly ‘cus they just make those Macs look so damn good. Even if you don’t like the colour pink, you’ve got to like what they do to those Apple machines.
