Dell is planning to upgrade many of its pro notebooks to take advantage of Intel’s Sandy Bridge processors and other breakthroughs, according to multiple leaks. The Latitude 620 and 630 would be direct replacements for the existing, respective 14- and 15.6-inch model that would both use faster processors. The Dell Lab insider doesn’t list specs for the E6420 but said the E6520 would have chips ranging from a dual 2.1GHz Core i3 through to dual 2.7GHz and quad 2.3GHz Core i7 options.

The E6420′s selling point will reportedly be its battery. The nine-cell pack would reach 97Whr and help Dell appeal to business users focused on battery life above all else. It would have one USB 3.0 port along with the usual USB 2.0 ports and an optional 21Mbps HSPA+ 3G modem from Ericsson. Both the E6420 and the E6520 would have a 3.2-megapixel webcam, although the larger of the two may have a touchscreen display option.
Workstation users may also get an update with a leak of new Precision models. The 15.6-inch M4600 and 17.3-inch M6600 will have upgraded video, according to the tip: the M4600 will have AMD FirePro M5950 as well as NVIDIA Quadro 1000M and 2000M options, while the M6600 could scale to the FirePro M8900, Quadro 3000M and Quadro 4000M options. Either would have options for more color-accurate RGB LED backlighting and touchscreens.
Processor picks weren’t mentioned, but both will almost certainly use the faster Sandy Bridge chips from the E6520.
None of the systems have a confirmed release date. Dell has regularly launched new systems in step with Intel news and could have systems ready for CES on January 5 or 6.
