Sony 13-inch flexible e-paper

Sony 13-inch flexible e-paper

Sony at a green technology expo has shown a 13-inch flexible e-paper display. The panel would use E Ink and, based on the demo, could show textbooks or other large publications. The company wouldn't tell Tech-On what resolution it used but suggested it could replace paper outright.

It's not clear if or when the paper would be put into production, although Sony's rival LG has promised shipping flexible e-paper devices by the end of this year.

Along with the large e-paper, Sony demonstrated a concept it has shown before of a Reader based on a flexible OLED. The technique would allow for a device with "softness" and could let users turn pages more like they would on a real book. It's implied, but not stated, that it would use a touchscreen.
