The Twelfth Annual CRM Excellence Awards has recognized Toshiba

Toshiba America Information Systems Inc., Telecommunication Systems Division announced that its Call Manager has won a Customer Interaction Solutions® magazine 2011 CRM Excellence Award.
"We are particularly proud of our CRM Excellence Award for Call Manager as this award is based on the customer's real-life use of the product," said Brian Metherell, vice president and general manager of Toshiba America Information Systems, Telecommunication Systems Division. Top 5 Steps to Create Your Own Android Trojan

Some users are shocked that Google can remove stuff from your Android phone remotely. I'm more alarmed at the ridiculous ease with which malicious coders can create Trojans for Android.Google Ready to Put Android EverywhereHere are the five simple steps Chien demonstrated:
One. Start by downloading a free app. You can choose any app at all, but of course you'll want to pick something that will draw plenty of downloads.
Two. The language compilers that create applications on your PC take textual source code and convert it into assembly language that the CPU can read and process. It's a one-way translation; there's no way to go from the final executable file back to the source code. Android apps are written in Java, though, and that means that you can decompile them back to the original source code using simple, easily-available tools. For the next step, decompile your target app.
Three. The third step is a little tricky. You'll need to obtain Java source code that does something nasty, like sending personal information from the device to a third party. For the demonstration, Chien used a known threat called Android.Geinimi.
Four. Adding the Trojan code is absurdly simple. You copy it into the folder containing the existing source code, make a small change in the manifest to run the Trojan code before the rest of the app, and edit the permissions to give the Trojanized app free access to the entire device. While you're at it, tweak the app's name. Chien added "FREE!" to the name for his demo.
Five. Compile the modified app and upload it to the market. You're done!Of course, malicious apps don't last long in the Android Market. If you really want to spread a dangerous program, you're better off uploading it in China, where there is no official Android market. In fact, virtually all of the examples referenced in Chien's presentation surfaced in the free-for-all markets of China.

Windows 8 Traditional flavour will run on Intel’s chips

Speaking at an Intel investor meeting on Tuesday, Renee James explained that Windows 8 will be available in versions for both x86 and ARM. James revealed there will be a Windows 8 Traditional flavour that will run on Intel’s chips and handle legacy applications. Microsoft is also planning a Windows 7 mode as part of the traditional SKU. “[Windows 8 traditional] means that our customers, or anyone who has an Intel-based or an x86-based product, will be able to run either Windows 7 mode or Windows 8 mode,” she said to The Register. “They’ll run all of their old applications, all of their old files – there’ll be no issue.”
James also revealed that on ARM chips there will be a “new experience” geared around mobile computing andtablet devices. The ARM space will have no support for legacy applications, “Our competitors will not be running legacy applications. Not now. Not ever.” Intel claims that it’s also able to run the new Windows 8 experience. “We’ll kind of have the best of both worlds. So we think we’re extraordinarily well-positioned in Windows 8,” said James.

“We’ve been working for the last couple of years – very, very focused – on Windows 8,” she said. “I’m very excited about it. We’ve been working on it for a long time. There’s a lot of exciting new features and things about it that I think are going to be great for users, great for the PC and tablet industry.”
James’ comments were also mirrored in a Bloomberg report on Tuesday. Microsoft will create multiple versions of its next Windows operating system that work on ARM chips. WinRumors revealed a number of different Windows 8 ARM versions last month. Microsoft held a special press event at the Consumer Electronics Showin Las Vegas in January to introduce a technology preview of Microsoft’s Windows ARM support and show off an early build of Windows 8. The company is partnering with ARM-based manufactures NVIDIA, Qualcomm and Texas Instruments to produce new Tablet devices.
Microsoft is currently working on a Windows 8 “immersive” tablet user experience. However, the company may introduce Windows 8 ARM based tablets ahead of a full desktop release. Microsoft’s competitive tabletstrategy is believed to be further along than expected. Dell’s recently leaked Tablet Roadmap revealed that the OEM has marked Q1 2012 as its date for a Windows 8 based slate.

How to perform a backup by launching the app and tapping "Backup"

One downside to jailbreaking is that you lose your jailbroken apps whenever you upgrade to the next version of the iPhone's firmware.
If you like to stay up to date on Apple's updates and keep your jailbroken data saved, there's a new, easy-to-use app that will back up and restore everything for you.
Download xBackup from the Cydia store for $1.50 to get started. When you're ready to update iPhone, you can perform a backup by launching the app and tapping "Backup."
Next, plug your iPhone into your computer and sync with iTunes as normal. xBackup will work in the background and store your jailbroken apps in a separate folder on your computer.
After you restore and update your phone as normal, you can reinstall xBackup from Cydia, open it, and tap "Restore." You'll be prompted Acer batbl50l6 batteries,Dell inspiron 6400 batteries to sync with iTunes again. Afterwards, all your jailbroken apps will be back on your phone.

"We will do Windows 7 coupled with Android Honeycomb, and we're really excited. We think that giving people that choice is very important."
Dell really appreciates that Apple has successfully created a market for tablets, but is pretty sure Apple will ultimately fail when it comes to attracting enterprise customers.
That's what Dell's head of enterprise marketing Andy Lark said in an interview with CIO Australia magazine today. He had a couple choice quotes as he ripped Apple's iPad for, among other things, being "too expensive" and incompatible for business users.
"I couldn't be happier that Apple has created a market and built up enthusiasm, but longer term, open, capable and affordable will win, not closed, high price, and proprietary," Lark reportedly told the magazine. "[Apple has] done a really nice job, they've got a great product, but the challenge they've got is that already Android is outpacing them.
"Apple is great if you've got a lot of money and live on an island. It's not so great if you have to exist in a diverse, open, connected enterprise; simple things become quite complex."
He also says the iPad is too expensive. His proof? "An iPad with a keyboard, a mouse and a case [means] you'll be at $1,500 or $1,600; that's double of what you're paying. That's not feasible," Lark said, according to CIO.

While the debate between the probability of future success between "open" and "proprietary" systems is clearly ongoing, Lark's math is just wrong. An iPad runs for between $500 and $830. Wireless keyboards are $70, and the most expensive smart cover is $70, but starts at $40. That means you're spending anywhere from $600 total to $970 total. And if you did find you needed a mouse for a touchscreen device such as the iPad, that would tack on just another $70. Not anywhere near $1,500 or $1,600.
We don't know yet how many iPad 2 devices Apple has sold since they went on sale March 11, but Apple sold more than 14 million models of the original iPad, and reported it's being used or tested at 80 percent of Fortune 100 companies. But a third-party company offered corroborating evidence that the iPad's use in the enterprise is on the rise.
Good Technology, which makes enterprise software for mobile devices (Good For Enterprise), has over the last year been tracking which devices its clients put its software on. Using data gleaned from more than 2,000 clients, Good found in January that during the fourth quarter of 2010, more than 65 percent of all activations using its software were on iOS devices--which means iPhones and iPads. iPad activations grew from 14 percent of all new devices to 22 percent of all new devices during that same time period.
Apple also managed to get the CEO of Salesforce.com, which makes software for enterprise sales, to appear in a marketing video for the iPad 2. Marc Benioff slightly differed with Lark's point of view, when he said of Apple's tablet, "This device is how we're going to run the future of the enterprise."

iPad accessory Would Be the Best Pioneer’s new receiver lineup?

It was kind of a treat for me because my favorite in-car stereo system when I was in my early teens had been a Pioneer floor mount cassette deck with auto-reverse. As such, the firm managed to earn quite a fond place in my heart.
Up until recently though, Pioneer hasn’t been at the top of their game and had to exit the TV business due to poor sales which is going to be problematic for them long term.
To be sure, TVs, DVD players and receivers are increasingly being integrated into various next-gen platforms.
However, I was extremely impressed with Pioneer's new VSX-1021 A/V receiver with Airplay because of its iPad connection.
In fact, I’ve placed it on my own personal short list of things I want to buy. Yes, it doesn’t ship until early next month but I’ll share with you what was impressive. Here's a hint, it was the smooth integration with Apple's iPad.
iPod/iPhone/iPad Integration
If I were to suggest a few years ago that folks might want to buy a $550 tablet as a remote control for a $550 receiver you’d have called me nuts.
Well, until you see this receiver, you might still call me nuts. 

Still, Pioneer has done an excellent job of creating an app that works with an iPhone or iPod Touch, but shines particularly with an iPad - by turning the receiver into an advanced music device.
From the iPad you can power up the unit, link multiple receivers and sync them to provide "whole house" audio via Apple’s AirPlay.
You can also configure the audio environment and even dynamically place yourself in it so that no matter where you sit you get perfect sound.
You can, of course, manage your audio and video sources - with a particular emphasis on sources that are DLNA complaint.
Setup is a virtual snap with a PC based (iPad version coming - though I thought the PC keyboardwas handy) dynamic manual which walks you step by step through each connection until you are done.
In effect, and I’m just skimming the surface here, you can turn your iPad into the most amazing remote control on the planet short of a $1,000 + custom unit.
And even some of these high end custom remote controls won’t do what the iPad can when connected to this receiver.Oh, and one more thing.
When you change the name on a remote control feature it changes on the remote itself.
Sure, most receivers have programmable remotes but virtually none in this price class have the ability to change the name on the button which can be rather frustrating if you don’t remember which button your changed.
This was guy heaven, if only for the few moments I got to play with the VSX-1021.
Other Features
The receiver is one of the first full featured HDMI 1.4 based products and, as a result, boasts some interesting new options on top of the expected 3D support.
For example, the VSX-1021 can pull audio off of the TV if you want to use it as a media source. 

And, as you would expect, the apps integrate with Pioneer’s new BluRay players making for a nice integrated solution.
But one of the coolest aspects: you don’t have to turn on the receiver to watch TV from a receiver connected source. 

It boasts passive pass through so the TV can see whatever the receiver was last connected to.

Dell is planning to upgrade many of its pro notebooks to take advantage of Intel’s Sandy Bridge processors and other breakthroughs, according to multiple leaks. The Latitude 620 and 630 would be direct replacements for the existing, respective 14- and 15.6-inch model that would both use faster processors. The Dell Lab insider doesn’t list specs for the E6420 but said the E6520 would have chips ranging from a dual 2.1GHz Core i3 through to dual 2.7GHz and quad 2.3GHz Core i7 options.

It would have one USB 3.0 port along with the usual USB 2.0 ports and an optional 21Mbps HSPA+ 3G modem from Ericsson. Both the E6420 and the E6520 would have a 3.2-megapixel webcam, although the larger of the two may have a touchscreen display option.
Workstation users may also get an update with a leak of new Precision models. The 15.6-inch M4600 and 17.3-inch M6600 will have upgraded video, according to the tip: the M4600 will have AMD FirePro M5950 as well as NVIDIA Quadro 1000M and 2000M options, while the M6600 could scale to the FirePro M8900, Quadro 3000M and Quadro 4000M options. Either would have options for more color-accurate RGB LED backlighting and touchscreens.
