Toshiba has thus managed to integrate 8.08 million pixels on a 1/3 inch-surface

Toshiba has recently revealed the world’s smallest 8MP CMOS sensor, which promises to offer smaller pixels, yet keep image quality. Usually, image quality is affected when manufacturers try to cram as many pixels as possible on a small panel.
The company is committed to fixing the issue by developing the world’s densest camera sensor, in which each pixel is separated by its neighboring pixels by only 1.12 micrometers. Toshiba has thus managed to integrate 8.08 million pixels on a 1/3 inch-surface.

The sensors also integrate the back-side illumination technology (BSI). This means that lenses are placed behind the sensor, not in front of it, as in the case of older generation sensors.
The technology improves light sensitivity and light absorption and, at the same time, prevents the small size of the sensor from affecting image quality in a negative manner.
The sensor offers support for 720p HD video content at 30 frames per second and 1080p HD video content at a rate of 60 frames per second.
Toshiba is already testing the new sensor which will go into production in 2012.  The sensor will then be used in the manufacturing process of smartphones and other gadgets.

HP's webOS could find footing among OEM partners

Samsung, Motorola and other makers of high-end Android smartphones have become frustrated enough with Google's  mobile operating system that it might open the door for another mobile platform player: HP's webOS.
Samsung, HTC and Motorola are the leading Android smartphone makers, with all three enjoying market share gainsversus Apple's (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPhone and RIM's (NASDAQ:RIMM) Blackberry devices in the past two years.
However, the advent of low-cost Android devices may be gradually changing the sentiment of good will toward Android.

Global Equities Research analyst Trip Chowdry said Motorola, Samsung and Sony are starting to feel that their premium handsets and tablets have little-to-no differentiation in the eyes of the customer against $20 Android phones from Huawei, or $150 tablets from ZTE.
These vendors further fear that Android and its gross fragmentation across multiple OS versions, carriers and devices may dilute their global brand.
Sony, Motorola and Samsung are "extremely worried" that customers are beginning to pick devices based on Apple's iOS instead of their Android phones and tablets, Chowdry said.
"As things stand today, Android has probably peaked, and probably will start showing slow and gradual decline," Chowdry added.
This opens the door for HP, whose CEO Leo Apotheker has said the company might be amenable to licensing webOS to these handset and tablet makers.
Related Business News:
WebOS would enable only two or three reference designs for only three or four OEM partners to limit the fragmentation that exists within the Android ecosystem, Chowdry suggested.
The analyst believes HP could license webOS for somewhere in the range of $50 to $75 per OEM smartphone or tablet, enabling the company and OEMs partners such as Samsung, Motorola and Sony to drive their premium brand at the expense of low-cost rivals such as Huawei and ZTE.
Moreover, since webOS is not free, the customer may be willing to pay for applications, making HP potentially a more viable OS option than Android to Apple iOS and the popular App Store.
However, tech analysts believe Chowdry's scenarios are unlikely, citing Samsung's strong commitments to Android on smartphones and Android 3.0 "Honeycomb" tablets, among other factors.
"While anything is possible with Samsung (they seem to do one of everything ever made), it's unlikely HP would be that anxious to license WebOS, and it's less likely that Samsung would want it without having a significant ecosystem in place to promote it (e.g., lots of apps and user demand)," industry analyst Jack Gold told eWEEK in an email.
Gold added that he doesn't see WebOS making it as a general Android OS replacement for vendors other than HP, which will, no doubt, push WebOS as being superior to Honeycomb.
IDC analyst Al Hilwa said there would be interest in an alternative to Android or Windows from other OEMs, but the value proposition has to be clearly defined.
"The key question for the platform owner is how to maintain a unified personality for the platform without allowing OEMs to fragment it with their own user interfaces and application frameworks," said Hilwa. "My guess is some will be willing to look at an alternative, but it is hard to get the formula right."

Apple Store employees who have been sending in tips about ipad display

First of all, we’d like to thank all of the Apple Store employees who have been sending in tips over the past week on the new Store stuff.  Thank you and we hope to continue to hear from you guys (and gals!).  We’re hearing there is more to come.
We’re pasting without (much) editing some of the different tips we’ve gotten below:
  1. As noted, the home button does not work when Smart Sign app is running so it cannot be exited. The only way to get the home button to work again is to reset the iPad using the home and lock buttons.
  2. The Apple Store App will be updated tomorrow, and will be available world wide. It will support CTO orders, and should also be available as an iPad optimised app.
  3. The Display iPads have a different model number than current iPad 2s.  There has been some concern about the cameras: Is Apple watching us from HQ?  Listening?  Customers?  Also, we’ve been told there is a bunch of security stuff on the new iPads.  If they leave the Store they keep calling home with their Wifi coordinates.
  4. Apple is giving the old Pioneer tvs to one lucky Apple Employee per store. We had just upgraded all of them to new Sonys
  5. The iPads are charged using a kind of tape, which goes from the cable which enters the plastic casing, to the dock connector (you can hardly see it!). This charges the iPad and alarms it – if it is removed, the alarm will sound.
  6. There was some speculation about how the iPads are powered in the new display. They are connected via ribbon cables that hook into the dock connector. All the cables are custom made for each iPad, and also power the product they are advertising. All the content on the iPads is loaded from a server, nothing is stored locally except the custom application. The home buttons are disabled. We load them up, provision them to be signage iPads, boot the application, tell the iPad where in the store it’s located and that’s it. Apple can change prices and info live across all of retail
  7. We have one of the smaller stores in the market and we received 100 iPad 2′s for the smart signs. The app that runs the information disables the home button on the iPad (obviously) and the image is all encompassing. If products move tables we won’t necessarily have to move smart signs just tell the iPads to display different product information. There is a specially designed flat ribbon cable that powers the iPad, no inductive charging or anything like that.
I’m not going to post the gesture combination unless it hits the web but it does exist and Store managers know it.

Laptop News - Windows PCs is not good Enough

This is no Seinfeld commercial. Instead, it’s a straightforward ad whose theme is Windows PCs have come a long way in the past few years, and are worth another look.
It’s prime time for Microsoft to push this message, since Windows 7 launched a year-and-a-half ago, and Windows 8 isn’t expected to debut on new PCs for more than another year. The PC market, as a result of the decline of netbook(Dell vostro 1500 laptop battery Toshiba pa3534u-1bas batteries) sales, coupled with the rise of iPad/tablet sales, isn’t growing much, which is denting Windows client revenues.
Microsoft and its Crispin Porter + Bogusky agency chose a somewhat odd way to emphasize the idea that Windows 7 PCs are worth checking out. As Microsoft explains the new campaign:
“Instead of waiting for them (users) to come to us, we bring a PC store to them when they least suspect it. In the TV ads, we target unsuspecting real people by transforming a room in their home into a personal PC store with a wide array of innovative, beautiful hardware.”
It seems to me that Microsoft could accomplish the same if the company would open some more Microsoft Stores — especially here on the East Coast, where the still-unopened Atlanta store is Microsoft’s only current option out this way. As I’ve blogged before, buying a PC here in New York City is a pretty dismal experience. I wouldn’t know about the wide variety of Windows PCs if I wasn’t a member of the press, privy to Microsoft showcases.
In Europe, Microsoft recently began touting the Windows Collection Web site as a way to share with potential customers some of the newer Windows 7 PC(Dell studio 1535 battery,Hp pavilion dv4 battery) form factors that have been introduced to the market in the past few months.
What do you think of the new Windows ads? Have you seen any new Windows 7 PCs introduced recently that might make you trade-in your good enough XP or Vista machine?

Quick Tips to make your Twitter stream more valuable and dynamic for followers

With a billion tweets per week, Twitter has become a place for people and organizations of all types to share their thoughts, reading lists and whereabouts. Real estate prospoliticiansnon-profits,journalists and small businesses are all using the social platform to connect with their communities and meet organizational goals.
Whether you’re a Twitter novice or tweeting pro, there are always ways to improve your presence on the microblogging service. Here are five ways to make your Twitter stream more valuable and dynamic for followers.

1. Get Visual

A sampling of photos recently tweeted by Gregory’s Coffee
If you’re at a loss for words, try sharing pictures or videos instead. Multimedia adds a new layer to your tweets and lets followers into your business’s otherwise-unknown world.
Gregory’s Coffee, an espresso bar with three locations in New York City, operates a lively Twitter stream, loaded with behind-the-scenes photos of latte art, pastries and employees. The photos give the coffee shop a warm and cozy persona, inviting tweeps to venture over to the shop for a nice cup o’ Joe.
Brands are using photo sharing apps in creative ways to bring fans closer to the action. Using apps, like Instagram and PicPlz, smartphone photographers can take advantage Dell studio 1536 batteryof photo-editing tools, including filters, that can make any picture look more interesting.

2. Get Physical

Social technologies such as Twitter aim to connect people. But the digital world has, in some cases, made it more challenging to genuinely connect with those around us. At tech events, for example, it’s not uncommon to see a group of people standing in a circle, tapping away on their smartphones. Business people should be cognizant of how they are using social media and understand if their behaviors are hurting or benefiting their relationships.
One way to use Twitter for physically connecting with colleagues and customers is to tweet out when employees or reps are attending industry events or making appearances at related venues. Such tweets invite real-life interaction.
The GEM Hotel, a boutique hotel with three locations in New York City, maintains an activepresence on Foursquare, checking in to nearby venues that embody the lifestyle of a GEM patron. The hotel occasionally shares its checkins via Twitter and automatically tweets when it “becomes mayor” or unlocks a badge on Foursquare, adding a bit of playfulness and humanity to its Twitter stream Dell studio 1555 battery.

3. Get Personal

With humble beginnings, many small businesses live on their stories. Talk to a small business owner, and you’ll likely discover a passionate individual who is happy to share every small detail about his or her company’s founding. You’ll learn where it all began, what the founding idea was, how the company grew throughout the years and what unexpected lessons were learned along the way.
In the spirit of that small-time, homey feeling, small businesses on Twitter can tweet about family events, employee softball tournaments and personal anecdotes. There’s a fine line between adding a personal touch and going overboard, though. Boloco, a Boston-based burrito chain that has grown substantially since its first opening in 1997, understands that balance.
Boloco’s Twitter stream is mainly composed of tweets to individuals. Tweet after tweet, marketing maven Sara Steele-Rogers and CEO John Pepper answer questions for and converse with Boloco fans. The two add a more personal touch, though, when special occasions arise. For example, a couple recently got engaged at a Boloco location — and the team was quick to congratulate the love birds on Twitter. Tweets such as this add a personal and intimate flair that showcases a business’s appreciation for its fans.

4. Get Inspired

It’s difficult to be creative all the time — when you’re in a linguistic rut, turn to other tweeters for inspiration. For small businesses, the first stop should always be those who are tweeting about you. When a jewel of an @mention appears, retweet it. Besides sharing a customer’s positive story with your followers, you’ll also be empowering that tweeter. It’s a great feeling when a brand you admire acknowledges your tweet with a simple retweet.
Trapp Family Lodge, a 2,500-acre resort in Stowe, Vermont, spends most of its Twitter stream on retweeting satisfied guests and upcoming visitors. When a user posts a image from the estate or calls out a great experience, you’re sure to find it on the Trapp Family Lodge Twitter account. Such tweets also double as customer reviews for the company, which can drive Dell vostro 1500 battery your business even more.

5. Get Smart

Twitter is all about value — users want value out of the accounts they’re following. Value can come in the form of exclusive deals, contests and even expertise. While deals and contests may take a bit more legwork to get off the ground, expertise is something that any small business owner or rep should be able to share at the drop of a hat.
Face Place, a spa with locations in Los Angeles and New York, dedicates its Twitter stream Dell vostro 1510 battery,Dell xps m1330 battery to providing daily skin care tips. Most recently, the spa has tweeted about makeup-removal tips, how blood sugar levels affect complexion and which foods are rich in omega-3 fatty acids, which are great for your skin.
Try spicing up your Twitter stream with tips and trivia related to your business. Your followers will appreciate the random facts you’re providing and tune in for the next tidbit.

iPad Top Tip Help you Managing iPad Memory

iPad Top Tip Help you Managing iPad Memory - http://www.wholesaleeshop.com.au
ipad by wholesaleeshop.com.auKeep your iPad from Crashing: The iPad doesn’t have multitasking yet so  memory  management shouldn’t be a problem, right?  You would think so but users  can still  run into situations where your iPad refuses to launch an app and pops up a  message  saying “Your memory is low.”  So what causes this and what can you do?
Well, the iPad already supports multitasking but it’s limited to only a few Apple  specific apps like the iPod, Mail and Safari.  For example, on the iPad you can start playing music in the iPod app,  return to the main screen, tap on the Mail app and then check your mail all without missing a beat in the music.  This basic multitasking can sometimes have an impact on your memory and apps.
If you get a “Your memory is low” warning message from your iPad while launching or using an app, you might have a background application at the root of your problem. If you’ve been surfing the net recently and have multiple pages open in Safari, each of these pages takes up memory and could be to blame.  To free up memory, simply go into Safari and close any web pages you might have open.  In the Safari Task Bar tap the “New Window” button and then close any web pages you have open from previous surfing sessions.  By simply closing any open Safari webpages you can save up to 40MB of memory.

After you’ve closed any open webpages, you should be able to launch the app that was giving you the low memory error message without a problem.

Dell Latitude 620 leaks with Sandy Bridge, giant battery

Dell Latitude 620 leaks with Sandy Bridge, giant battery –http://wholesaleeshop.com.au

Dell is planning to upgrade many of its pro notebooks to take advantage of Intel’s Sandy Bridge processors and other breakthroughs, according to multiple leaks. The Latitude 620 and 630 would be direct replacements for the existing, respective 14- and 15.6-inch model that would both use faster processors. The Dell Lab insider doesn’t list specs for the E6420 but said the E6520 would have chips ranging from a dual 2.1GHz Core i3 through to dual 2.7GHz and quad 2.3GHz Core i7 options.

The E6420′s selling point will reportedly be its battery. The nine-cell pack would reach 97Whr and help Dell appeal to business users focused on battery life above all else. It would have one USB 3.0 port along with the usual USB 2.0 ports and an optional 21Mbps HSPA+ 3G modem from Ericsson. Both the E6420 and the E6520 would have a 3.2-megapixel webcam, although the larger of the two may have a touchscreen display option.
Workstation users may also get an update with a leak of new Precision models. The 15.6-inch M4600 and 17.3-inch M6600 will have upgraded video, according to the tip: the M4600 will have AMD FirePro M5950 as well as NVIDIA Quadro 1000M and 2000M options, while the M6600 could scale to the FirePro M8900, Quadro 3000M and Quadro 4000M options. Either would have options for more color-accurate RGB LED backlighting and touchscreens.
Processor picks weren’t mentioned, but both will almost certainly use the faster Sandy Bridge chips from the E6520.
None of the systems have a confirmed release date. Dell has regularly launched new systems in step with Intel news and could have systems ready for CES on January 5 or 6.
