2011 CES TOP Gadget - Acer ICONIA Touchbook,ASUS Eee Slate Tablet

At the beginning of each year, Las Vegas vacationers are taken by surprise when 100,000 or so geeks infest the casino-laden city. And as Techgage staffers are suckers for bodily punishment, we of course headed on down to see all of what's in store for 2011 where consumer electronics, computer hardware and other technologies are concerned.Acer Iconia Touchbook - Techgage.com Best of CES 2011
Like others in recent years, CES 2011 had a major focus on mobile hardware, with touchscreens, docks, tablets and phones hogging most of the limelight. It was for great reason though, as some of the products we saw were rather surprising in different ways.
Admittedly, we were at times overwhelmed with the onslaught of mobile products, but we didn't forget about PC hardware, and in all, about half of our "Best of" list is dedicated to either side of the spectrum. All of the products chosen for our Best of award has been discussed among the staff and well-deserves its spot here. Note that these products are listed in alphabetical order.
The laptop has two 14-inch Touch screens. The lower you can quickly turn into a QWERTY keyboard (of course, touch), or navigate through a virtual function editor with gestures. To measure processing speed there packed an Intel Core i5, 4 GB of DDR3 RAM, and capacious Hard Drive (Maximum is 750 GB.) ICONIA operates under the control for Windows 7 Home Premium. Acer did not spare for the interfaces, so it is standard on the top shelf – including the USB 3.0 controller.

ASUS Eee Slate Tablet

Tablets were all the rage at this year's CES, but ASUS spun things a bit differently with its Eee Slate EP121. Unlike most tablets which focus on delivering just enough software to keep people mobile, the Eee Slate packs in more power and functionality so that you can get a lot of actual work done while on the go.
For starters, the ASUS Eee Slate EP121 uses an Intel Core i5 dual-core processor, which is a major step up from the ARM or Intel Atom processors that other tablets have been equipped with. In addition, it features a 12.1-inch LED-backlit display with a large 1280x800 resolution, along with a 178° viewing angle. As a capacitive device, both your fingers and a special stylus can be used for control.

Battery Cares – Don’t take your laptop’s battery to extremes

There's a lot of confusion about the care and feeding of laptop batteries, to judge from my latest Web chat: Should you avoid running on battery to prolong its life--or rely on the battery as

much as possible to keep it fresh? The answer is neither: As long as you don't rely only on wall current or inflict constant discharge-recharge cycles on the battery, you should be fine. In other words, keeping the laptop plugged into the outlet by the coffee table or the desk is fine as long as you take it to somewhere else every few weeks. (Or, if your electricity is sufficiently unreliable, you could leave it plugged in and wait for the battery to get a workout during your next outage.)

As I explained in a Help File item last March, the lithium-ion batterie(laptop battery,Compaq v6000 batteries)s in most laptops will start to weaken after enough usage cycles, but it will take anywhere from 300 (HP's estimate) to 1,000 (Apple's) for them to drop to 80 percent of their original capacity. So if your laptop mostly stays at home, you shouldn't have to worry about replacing its battery for at least a couple of years.

(About the "PostPoints tip" title: I archive each tip-of-the-week e-mail we send to PostPoints members under this blog's "Tips" category. Today's item went out on Feb. 22.)

Meanwhile...

* My column synthesized a few thoughts I've had about the disconnect between the ever-increasing utility of smartphones and the persistent unwillingness of other gadgets to take advantage of such smartphone capabilities as easy photo sharing and near-instant GPS location sensing.

* And in Help File, I covered a different sort of Dell d630 battery Dell gk479 batteries--the watch-size unit that keeps your computer's clock ticking along until it silently fails after a few years.

Running the battery out very quickly by drawing a lot of power at once is another way to cause it a lot of strain. For example, running a graphics-intensive game on a smartphone or a notebook for a couple of hours while unplugged is worse for the battery than depleting it over several hours while e-mailing or Internet-browsing (heat is a factor here, too). Again with the running analogy: it's probably harder on you to sprint a mile than to jog it.

If you have a spare battery you don't use that often, manufacturers say the best way to store it is at 40 or 50 percent charge in a cool place, like a refrigerator (but not too cold, as extreme temperatures cause capacity loss, so don't put it in the freezer just because there's extra room next to the peas).

Hp 484170-001

These usage points are not going to drastically affect the lifespan of your battery; that is, you can't make it last forever if your carefully cycle the battery down to 50 percent the second it's full and never use it for anything more intensive than the occasional flash game. Most manufacturers will give you an "up to" figure (up to 80 percent of its original capacity after 1,000 cycles, for example), and careful use will help you reach that, but you won't get too far beyond it. However, following these guidelines (Use your battery. Not too much. Mostly for small apps.) will help your reach the upper echelons of manufacturer estimates.

Laptop Battery tips for repair a 'smart' battery

Some basic rules must be followed in repairing a 'smart' battery. If the cells are weak, cell replacement makes economic sense. While Nickel-based cells are readily available, Lithium-ion cells are not sold on the open market. Most manufactures offer them only in a completed HP pavilion dv6000 Battery hp dv2000 battery pack, together with protection circuit. This precaution is understandable when considering the danger of explosion and fire if the cells are assembled in a careless way. Always replace the pack with the same chemistry cells.

HP breaks new battery life ground with EliteBook notebook

The HP EliteBook 8460p is available in 3-, 6- or 9-cell battery options, but is also compatible with new HP Extended Life Notebook Battery and HP Ultra-Capacity Notebook Battery. It's with the latter installed that HP claims an industry-leading battery life of a quite extraordinary 32 hours.
Power for this marathon performer comes courtesy of second generation Intel Core i7 quad-core processors and Core i7, i5 and i3 dual-core processors supported by up to 16GB of DDR3 memory. There's a 14-inch, 1366 x 768 or 1600 x 900 resolution LED-backlit display with a choice of integrated Intel HD or discrete AMD Radeon HD 6470M discrete graphics. The notebook also supports up to four concurrent displays with AMD Eyefinity Technology.
The 8460p is available in various HDD or SSD storage configurations, and there's USB 3.0 connectivity, a USB 2.0 charging port (which allows users to use the notebook as a power source for attached devices) and an eSATA/USB 2.0 combo port. 802.11b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1 with EDR and the soon to be available HP un2430 EV-DO/HSPA Mobile Broadband as an optional addition take care of the wireless options, with Gigabit Ethernet also being on offer.
HP has also unveiled another member of the p-series business notebooks - the8560p - which shares much of the same feature set as its cousin but sports a 15.6-inch, 1366 x 768 or 1600 x 900 resolution LED-backlit display.
They're both also rugged mobile business solutions, their DuraCase housing, aluminum-alloy hinges, cast titanium-alloy display latches and HP DisplaySafe frame being tough enough to meet MIL-STD 810G drop, vibration, dust, humidity, altitude, and high temperature military-standard testing specifications.

Bring on the ProBooks

All of the new HP ProBook b-series additions have LED-backlit displays, benefit from a smudge-resistant design and a magnesium-reinforced ABS chassis with a bottom-case drain that helps protect against accidental minor spills on the keyboard. Processing power options take the form of second-generation Intel Core i7, i5 and i3 dual-core processors or an Intel Celeron processor and there's up to 16GB DDR3 RAM to back them up.
Storage of up to 500GB HDD or 160GB SSD is available and wired connectivity includes Gigabit Ethernet, three USB 2.0 ports and one eSATA/USB 2.0 combo port. Ditching the wires is made possible with 802.11b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1 with EDR and optional HP un2430 EV-DO/HSPA Mobile Broadband when it's available.
The HP ProBook 6360b has a 13.3-inch, 1366 x 768 resolution display and comes with integrated Intel HD Graphics 3000.
In the middle is the 14-inch, 1366 x 768 or 1600 x 900 resolution display 6460b, with integrated Intel HD Graphics 3000/discrete AMD Radeon HD 6470M graphics with 512MB onboard video memory.
The last of the new ProBooks is the 6560b, with a 15.6-inch, 1366 x 768 or 1600 x 900 resolution display and integrated Intel HD Graphics 3000/discrete AMD Radeon HD 6470M graphics. This model also gets an extra USB 2.0 port, making four in total.

Top 8 Simple Ways Improve Laptop Battery Power

Laptops make it possible to do your personal computing anywhere. However, this comes with a price, your unplugged usage is restricted by the life of your laptop battery unless a handy wall socket in nearby. A laptop battery rarely provides more than an hour of use when listening to tunes, watching movies or playing games. Some people have overcome this shortcoming by buying extra batteries and external power sources. However, this can be a pricey option. There are a number of simple ways you can improve your laptop battery to give you more running time.
Here 8 Ways to Improve Laptop Battery Power :
1. Use the Power Options
Power management options in Windows, known as Power Options, are a great way to draw less battery power and add to your running time between charges. The power options give you the ability to control your hardware activity, set sleep and hybrid sleep options and take advanced measures to control your laptop battery usage. Vista gives you much more control over how your laptop battery will be used than previous Windows operating system. However, Windows XP also gives you a comprehensive way to save your laptop battery power.
2. FilesRemove all USB devices.
Yes, USB storage devices drain your laptop battery. USB storage devices, a mouse and even a wireless adapter require a large amount of your battery power to remain active. You should remove all unused USB devices to conserve your laptop battery power.

3. Keep your DVD/CD player empty.
Listening CD or watching DVD in one of the major causes of laptop battery drain. There are a tremendous amount of mechanical process that occur to spin the disk in your CD/DVD drive. Keep these drives empty by copying the movies and songs to your hard drive. The movies can be loaded without into your RAM without the need for battery consuming CD/DVD hardware.
4. Clean up your
A messy filing system can spell murder for your laptop battery. Your CPU needs your laptop battery power to keep all files on your computer active. Even unwanted files need your computer's resources. Remove temporary files, unnecessary programs and other clutter to cut down on laptop battery power consumption. A good Defrag schedule will also reduce the clutter and require your computer to work less to find files. The more efficient your computer's performance is the more efficient your power usage. For more ways to streamline your computer's performance, check out Ways to Speed UP Your PC page.
5. Turn off Your Wireless Adapter
A built in wireless adapter is a handy piece of hardware. However, all hardware needs your laptop battery power. So, the wireless adapter should be turned off when not in use. There is usually a switch in front of your laptop. If wireless adapter can't be turned off with a physical button, use the Power Options. Be sure that you conserve your laptop battery by switching this off when its not in use.
6. Turn down the Brightness
It takes a lot of energy to light up your screen. Simply turning screen brightness down a by a small increment will significantly add to your laptop battery power(Hp dv9000 batteries,Hp 530 battery). You can reduce your screen brightness in a number of ways. Some laptops have a button on their base. However, you can reduce it using one of the function keys usually F6, or simply reduce it using the Power Options.
7. Increase Your RAM
Ram acts as temporary storage for data. This takes a tremendous load of your computer CPU and hard disk. Ram makes it possible to use less processing power and reduces the need to constantly read data off your hard disk. This in turn reduces the amount of battery power consumed by your computer. Savvy Vista users know that the more gigs you have of RAM the less bulky and resource demanding the O.S. is on your processor.
8. External Battery Power
Recently supplementary batteries have become much cheaper and smaller. Some weigh a little as 500 grams and are designed to sit comfortably underneath your laptop. This option sometimes triples the laptop battery(Toshiba satellite a100 battery,Sony vgp-bps2a laptop battery) life when not plugged in. However, this is still the most expensive option.

Best 5 Pink laptops for Apple,Dell,HP,Asus&Sony

Well The Uni year is over and so is the school term, so in anticipation of the new academic year coming this September we’re looking at what’s out there for our younger customers. Let’s remember that not all of us are gamers or professionals and are just leisurely laptop users with a special affinity for different colours.
5. Dell Mini 10 Inspiron
The Pink Mini 10 netbook launched by Dell is a fairly standard machine. It has an Atom processor that runs Windows 7 and features a meagre GB DDR 2 RAM. It does have a good amount of Hard Drive space with up to 250 GB and an integrated graphics card.
More importantly though is it’s appearance. It’s really nice, really small and kinda cute. It has a very glossy 10.1 inch LCD display and fits nicely in any bag. Also, with built in Wi-Fi, it’s perfect to carry around.
4. Sony VAIO VPC-EA1S1E and NW20 Series
pinkvaio Top 5 Pink laptops Apple, Asus, Dell, HP & Sony laptops at laptopshop.co.uk
Sony are another manufacturer who include a pink option throughout the laptop and netbook range. Sony VAIO laptops are renowned for offering high performance, quality and reliability; and, in terms of price, offer great value in comparison to some other computer brands.
Sony are a manufacturer that seem to always include a pink alternative to their netbook range. Their Sony VAIO laptops are always of a high spec, quality and are always reliable.
The new 14 inch VPC-EA1S1E Sony laptop notebook from Sony with a massive 4GB of RAM and 500GB Disc Drive looks great and out performs most laptops in its class. The Sony has an Intel Core 2.13GHz processor and dedicated ATI graphics card (512Mb)- coupled with an LED 16:9 display this makes it ideal for watching movies as well as being an ideal everyday laptop for home or work.
There’s also the Sony VAIO NW20 Series Laptop. This is Windows 7 enabled and features a smooth patterned casing with smooth edges which has been designed to be easily carried around.
It also has a T6600 processor, 320 GB HDD and 4GB of RAM!
Easily the most powerful windows laptop in this list.
3. HP Mini 110-1150SA Pink Netbook
pinkhp Top 5 Pink laptops Apple, Asus, Dell, HP & Sony laptops at laptopshop.co.uk
This 10.1 inch netbook is part of a long line of netbooks to pack an Intel Atom processor, but unlike most netbooks this comes with Windows 7 as it’s default operating system. Other specs are a 160GB hard-drive, 1GB of ram and an almost full size keyboard. The standard web-cam, microphone and webcam are also built in.
as a netbook, it’s fairly standard, as A pink laptop, it’s pretty damn cool. It’s light and once again very portable, slips into a school bag or hand bag very nicely.
2. Asus Eee PC Disney 9 inch Children’s Netbook
pinkasus Top 5 Pink laptops Apple, Asus, Dell, HP & Sony laptops at laptopshop.co.uk
This is a shameless Disney branded laptop that all children will love. It’s based upon the ASUS Eee PC netbook and is packed to the rafters with entertaining and educational software.
Designed specifically for children, it features lots of innovative features including an extra tough rugged design, plus shock proof hard-drive and parental control.
Asus have played it safe by opting to go with Windows XP as the OS. I assume they don’t trust Vista and don’t want to risk it with the uncharted windows 7.
The price is around £270, which isn’t too bad for a netbook these days. Your kids will absolutely love this.
It’s second because it’s perfect for the market, I can’t think of any child that wouldn’t love this. Boy or Girl. It’s clever, it’s cute, it’s educational, it’s fun, it’s a good price and it’s number 2.
1. Apple MacBook, MackBook Pro and iPad
Ok, this is a bit of a cheat as Apple haven’t actually officially released these products, however there is a company called ‘colorware’ that will make these modifications for you.
Colorware can and will customise almost most laptops or electrical products you can think of. The beauty of their service is that you can go online and play around with their system which will preview what your laptop(Apple a1185 battery) will look like. Simply send in your existing MacBook and they’ll customise it to your perfect shade of pink.
Alternatively you can purchase the laptop fully customised directly from them. Either way it’s pretty damn cool.
So that’s our winner, mainly ‘cus they just make those Macs look so damn good. Even if you don’t like the colour pink, you’ve got to like what they do to those Apple machines.
