Laptop Reviews – Sony Vaio VPCCA1S1E Notebook by www.wholesaleeshop.com.au

Much as we love laptops, we'd be the first to admit they can look a tad... samey. With the tablet revolution rocking the tech world, our favourite folding gadgets have to do something special to stand out. Sony seems to be aware of this -- its new Vaio C series VPCCA1S1E laptop comes in a range of luminous colours, and sports a quirky, retro design.

We've gone hands-on with this 14-inch machine, and below are our first impressions. It'll be out on 21 March, and will cost £750.

Rainbow bright

Let's start with the colours. The C series machine will be available in bright green, orange, pink, black and white versions. Whichever model you choose, the colour extends over pretty much the whole laptop. The green version, for instance, features a green trackpad, green bezel and green everything.

The lid is made of glossy plastic, with a translucent effect around the edges. We can't deny it looks slightly cheap, but somehow it works. The rest of the chassis is similarly quirky. For example, there's an odd ridge that runs along the bottom of the wrist rest, and Sony's offering an optional rubbery keyboard cover that drapes over the keys.

This cover makes typing on the keyboard feel slightly odd, like tapping away at the rubber buttons on the ZX Spectrum. But still, if you don't like it, you can remove it. If you really want your laptop to look garish, you could opt for the fluorescent keyboard cover from one model and slap it onto a laptop of another colour. Disgustingly brilliant.

The trackpad is rounded at the corners, and the same colour as the rest of the laptop. We like the rubber stubs on either side of the keyboard, as they'll stop the lid rubbing against the body of the laptop.

We didn't get much chance to lug the laptop around during our hands-on time, but it didn't feel uncommonly heavy when we picked it up. Its 14-inch display means it's small enough to stuff in a bag and carry about with you on your madcap adventures.
