Top Tips to optimize battery for your Laptop

For on-the-go computing, your battery is your best friend. Knowing how it likes to be treated is the first step to keeping both of you happy.
  • Keep battery contacts clean. Battery contacts can get dirty or corroded over time, reducing the effective delivery of power. With your mobile PC turned off and unplugged from its external power source, remove the battery. Use a cotton swab dampened with rubbing alcohol to wipe the metal contacts on the battery and inside the device. Allow them to dry completely before reinstalling the battery and reconnecting to a power source. Repeat this procedure every two to three months.
  • Charge your battery correctly. When you're on the road, be sure to carry a power cord and plug your computer in whenever you have the chance. Unlike the older-generation rechargeable batteries like nickel-based (NiMH) batteries (see next paragraph), modern lithium ion batteries can be partially discharged and recharged repeatedly with no harmful effects, but you should avoid fully discharging lithium ion batteries. Consult your owner’s manual for more specific tips on charging, and never use an AC adapter (power cord) or battery charger not approved by your device’s manufacturer.

  • Completely drain nickel-based batteries periodically. If you're using an older laptop (at least three years old) with a nickel-metal hydride (NiMH) battery, be sure to completely drain it and recharge it (every one to three months—consult your owner’s manual) to ensure that it will hold a full charge. (Most newer mobile PCs use lithium ion batteries, which don't need to be drained to maximize their capacity.) To drain a NiMH battery, simply turn on your computer, unplug it from its external power source, and let the computer run. To speed things up, you could start several applications, turn the screen brightness to its highest level, and ignore all of the great power-saving strategies below. After the power is completely drained, recharge the battery fully. This may take up to 12 hours.

  • Cool it. Your mobile computer generates heat, and higher operating temperatures reduce your device’s efficiency, which in turn demands more battery power and can shorten battery life. Make sure that your computer can “breathe”: Don’t let clothing, lint, or other obstructions block the cooling vents. See How to clean your computer for more tips on keeping your computer spotless and running smoothly.
  • Carry a spare. Buying an extra battery is a good investment for your peace of mind. Battery prices vary widely. You can significantly increase the power available to you if you're willing to splurge a little. Contact the manufacturer of your mobile PC to find a replacement battery, or search here.
Store it properly. If you don’t expect to use your mobile computer for a week or more, it’s a good idea to store the battery, discharged to about 40 percent of full capacity, in a cool place. Click the battery status icon in the notification area of the Windows taskbar to check the current charge. Avoid storing a fully discharged—or fully charged—lithium ion battery for extended periods, as this can diminish battery life.

Apples newly-released editing software by wholesaleeshop

Apple today unveiled Final Cut Pro X, the most recent version of its widely-used editing suite. The software is available immediately for $299.99 through the Mac App Store.
As with most things Apple, the software is “revolutionary,” with magic powers capable of transforming the entire movie industry. Plot lines will now always make sense, actors will never give a bad performance, and the good guy will always win.
Final-Cut-Pro-X
Ok, we kid. But Final Cut Pro X does have some truly impressive new features that will change the way editors work — or at least make it easier for them to work the way they like.
First up is the Magnetic Timeline, which replaces the standard timeline with a new format that allows editors to easily organize and rearrange clips however they like. Another handy feature, Clip Connections, links story clips to other elements, like tiles and sound effects. This makes it easy to keep the elements related to a specific clip connected when the clip is moved around. Compound Clips allows editors to group multiple clips together, and move them or apply effects as a single unit.
Another immensely helpful addition to Final Cut Pro X is background processes. Lik Content Auto-Analysis, for example, which uses the metadata taken from the camera that shot the imported media and applies useful tags, like shot type (e.g. wide, medium, close), to the files. Using the automatically generated keywords, the clips are automatically assembled in the “Smart Collections” section of the “Event Library,” where all clips are store for new project. Not only is this supposed to make it easier to keep things organized, it takes out a massive amount of time-consuming work involved in editing large projects.
Perhaps the most-needed upgrade to Final Cut — an absent feature that we know made some editors stop using the software — is background rendering, which means editors don’t have to stop working just to wait for their software to sluggishly apply changes.
Other useful additions, include Auditions, which allows for quick clip comparisons, plus a wide range of post-production goodies, like customizable effects and improved audio editing.
In addition to the totally overhauled design and functionality, Final Cut Pro X is a completely “rebuilt from the ground up” app, Apple says. The massive software is 64-bit and requires the use of a high-end Mac with some heavy-duty hardware, so check to make sure your system meets the minimum requirements before dropping the cash.
Apple also offers Motion 5, a companion app for creating professional motion graphics, and Compressor 4 for advanced encoding. Both apps will cost $49.99 each through the Mac App Store.

Mac OS X Lion beta reveals Restart to Safari

MacRumors was digging through the latest developer beta of Mac OS X Lion when it found a rather intriguing new option -- if you choose "Restart to Safari" on the user lock screen, the computer will reboot into a mode which consists entirely of the web browser. If that sounds familiar, perhaps you've heard of Google's Chrome OS, a partially-fledged operating system that runs within the browser itself... but we haven't heard Apple express a desire for any such thing. Now, certainly we've seen a number of Windows desktops and laptops ship with a secondary, browser-centric OS like Splashtop in order to have an instant-on mode, but if you have to boot and reboot the computer to get to Safari, that doesn't sound like much of an improvement. Perhaps it's a way to let guests (or children) entertain themselves without giving them access to your files? All we know for certain is that it's a most mysterious option.
Update: But perhaps not as mysterious as we thought -- 9to5 Mac spotted its genesis earlier this week, and it's a bona fide honeypot. If your Mac gets stolen, the idea goes, it'll need to be connected to the internet for you to be able to track it with Find My Mac or perform a remote wipe, so you'll let the thieves browse this guest account to keep them busy without letting them peruse your personal files. Cue the Admiral Ackbar, we suppose.
The European commission made Microsoft "remove" IE from Windows, now Google and Apple are making Web based OS... weird.
I didn't know they could get any more wrong with their articles! This Safari only mode is a recovery mood for Mas OS X Lion, in case you have any problems with the OS you can boot only into Safari without booting in to the OS and search for solutions online or contact for help!
Other Business News:
Its all given on the Apple's website! do they even bother to verify on their own?
I don't think this is a splashtop type of thing. I wonder if Apple sees the writing too and is making their cloudOS steps already. If thats the case then the next gen computer is a done deal. Its all about web delivered (that doesn't mean everything RUNS in the cloud) applications.

I think this sounds handy for those that manage to get a virus or have some other problem. If you can get to the log in screen then you could switch it to browser only mode to try and figure out what's wrong. Most people have smartphones or a second computer though nowadays so it may not be very useful for this application.
This is great news for MacOSX users.  I'd like to see some Lion user polling few months after this is released: Which boot method do you use more often  Choice 1: MacOSX, Choice 2: Safari.  I have the feeling that OS X will be the last major consumer "x86 PC OS"  that Mac will release (I suspect Windows 8 will be the last from MS).  Most tech giants seem to settled on the idea that vast majority of people will be doing their things on mobile devices running on arm/low-power chips with file sync done by the server.  This will ensure all the next generation kids will know nothing about things that are considered basic in PC world today - file systems, disc drives.  Not a big deal I guess.  The previous generation of computer users (pre 80s) needed to know things like compilers - not today.
